Running: AMOK Music Director Derrick “D. Marq” Smith (Jan. 11, 1973-Dec.7, 2012)
On December 7, 2012, our beloved music director for our 2011 tour of the stage play “Running: AMOK”, Derrick “D. Marq” Smith passed away at the age of 33. D. Marq coordinated the music performance by the band for our show and was a rising star in the Washington DC music scene, heading his own music label MellowMusic. While a gifted musician and producer, D. Marq was also a stellar singer and songwriter, penning many songs for his own CD and for other artists.
